About

Who We Are

Bula Tsela Foundation is a voluntary non profit organisation dedicated to youth development through sport and education. The organisation exists to create opportunities for young people while strengthening communities.

Our Philosophy

Sport is more than competition. It is a gateway to education, leadership and opportunity.

The Bula Tsela Foundation Leadership

Dr. William Motshwane

William “Lou” Motshwane (Bula Tsela Foundation Chairman) is a medical doctor and holds an MBA degree. He is from Soweto township. Football afforded him with an opportunity to live and study in the United States at a very young age. He is a living example of what athletic abilities combined with academic opportunity can do. He now spends much of his time presenting the youth to similar opportunities he had.

Linda Ncube

Linda Ncube is a dynamic force for change and a dedicated advocate for youth development. Her background in psychology fuels her commitment to personal growth. Her entrepreneurial spirit has led to the establishment of a record company and the facilitation of cultural exchanges and music tours between South Africa and the USA. Currently, she contributes to tourism projects and takes joy in being a soccer Mom to her three sons.

Thabiso Khumalo

Thabiso “Boyzzz” Khumalo (Bula Tsela Director of Sports) is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and he brings a wealth of high-level college and professional experience to the youth. After having played at Coastal Carolina (NCAA Division 1), United Soccer League, and Major League Soccer he spends his time on the touchline as a coach. He is a decorated soccer coach with a UEFA B coaching license. He’s currently coaching Michigan Jaguars (youth) and Flint City Bucks (USL 2) in Detroit, Michigan. He is passionate about equality in the game of soccer and he has never forgotten his community in Mzimhlophe Soweto where he sponsors a soccer team and is founder of Umhlaba Vision Foundation. He lives by the motto: “It’s up to us to uplift our community.”

Partnerships

Bula Tsela Foundation believes that meaningful and lasting impact is achieved through collaboration. Our work depends on strong partnerships with organisations and individuals who share our commitment to youth development, education, and community empowerment. Through these relationships, we create pathways that allow young people to grow, learn, and access opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

Strategic Collaboration

Bula Tsela works closely with schools, community organisations, sports institutions, and development agencies to expand opportunities for young people. These partnerships allow us to combine resources, knowledge, and networks in order to create sustainable youth development programmes.

Through collaboration we are able to provide structured training, educational support, mentorship opportunities, and access to broader development initiatives. By working together with institutions that share similar values, the foundation strengthens its ability to reach more young people and create lasting positive change in the communities we serve.

Corporate Partnerships

Corporate partners play an important role in helping Bula Tsela expand its programmes and reach more young people. Through financial support, equipment sponsorships, and skills based partnerships, businesses contribute directly to youth empowerment and community development.

In return, corporate partners become part of a meaningful social impact initiative that supports the development of future leaders. Partnerships also provide organisations with opportunities to engage with communities, strengthen their social responsibility initiatives, and contribute to the long term development of South African youth.

Institutional Partnerships

Bula Tsela collaborates with educational institutions, sports federations, and international development organisations to strengthen programme delivery and create broader opportunities for participants.

These partnerships make it possible for talented young athletes to access academic support, scholarships, exchange programmes, and specialised training environments. By working with institutions that understand the value of sport and education together, we are able to open doors that connect young people to opportunities both locally and internationally.

Donor Engagement

Donors and philanthropic partners are essential to the continued growth and sustainability of the foundation. Their support helps fund programmes, provide equipment, support scholarships, and expand the reach of our initiatives.

Bula Tsela is committed to transparency and accountability in the way donor contributions are used. Through regular reporting and measurable impact tracking, supporters are able to see the real difference their contributions make in the lives of young people and the communities they represent. Our donors can claim deductions on their taxes. Our Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) number is 930 082 039
